As we put more and more emphasis on computers, handwriting has been falling by the wayside. Educators say it doesn’t matter much anymore. But in the Science section of The New York Times, Maria Konnikova argues there are strong links between handwriting and educational development. Children who learn to write by hand learn to read more quickly and are better able to generate ideas and retain information.
