iPads in the Classroom

Insightful piece in the Sunday Boston Globe magazine by a teacher at Boston College High School about all students in grades seven through 10 being required to buy an iPad, which they’re using as an alternative to textbooks.

He poses a very interesting question – “Isn’t the high-tech world for which we attempt to prepare them (students) awaiting an adept Web navigator, capable of plucking answers from the tangled Net? Or should the student command a body of knowledge and understanding that’s not device-dependent?”

What do you all think?
