Teaching Kids Online Self-Defense

Good article in the NY Times about federal regulators taking the biggest steps in more than a decade to protect children online.

Welcome news as most kids have access to a computer or mobile device making it that much harder for parents to monitor what they’re doing online.

However, I do think it’s up to parents to teach their children basic online self-defense.  I like what Patricia Tay-Weiss, a mother of two young children in Venice, CA says, “We are teaching our kids to ask, ‘What is the company getting from you and what are they going to do with that information?”
